Need to know what dragons are compatible with which? Confused about Breed Specific Actions (BSA)? Look no further! Just click on the page you need in the left hand navigation, or read below for instant answers!
Some general points are stated below:
(Constantly updated to correspond to Dragon Cave gameplay changes) You can also view Dragon Cave's help pages here, which details the same info: http://dragcave.net/help
How to Help Your Dragons Grow:
Dragons need views and unique views to reach maturity. Post your scroll or dragons' codes onto click sites that specialize in aiding dragon cave users to do so. I've provided links to some good ones under the "Other Dragon Click Sites" page on the left-hand navigation bar.
Be careful how many sites you put your dragons on in a short period of time. Dragons that get too many views in a short time will get sick and can die. When viewing your scroll, it will notify you when you view it which eggs or hatchlings are sick.
Scroll Locking:
Being "Scroll Locked" means you can no longer pick up any eggs from the cave or either eggs/hatchlings from the AP.
Egg/Hatchling Limits
have been revamped as of the huge June 2011 update to gameplay. The limits have been altered/increased based on your trophy level.
The limits are as follows:
- New users can have 4 eggs with 12 total growing creatures.
- Bronze trophy (Over 50 adult dragons on your scroll) brings you up to 5 eggs/15 total growing
- Silver trophy (Over 200 adult dragons raised) is 6 eggs/18 total growing
- Gold trophy (Over 500 adult dragons on scroll) is a whopping 7 eggs at a time with 21 total living things
Egg Actions:
A limited number of actions my be performed on an egg:
Kill - Attempting to kill the egg will either result in death or will force the hatchling out of the egg early. If forcing is successful, the hatchling will either stay on your scroll or will run away (auto-abandons to either AP or Wilderness). Requires password confirmation to use. Can be used a maximum of 5 times before you must wait a few weeks to be allowed to do so again.
*Note - This action is frowned upon in the community if you do it often and for seemingly no reason, especially if done to an egg that is an offspring of dragons owned by someone who likes to track where their dragons' babies go.
Abandon - Releases the egg to the AP. Requires password confirmation to do so. Cannot be done if you have had the egg for less than 5 hours. This only applies to eggs you grab from the main cave page (cave born dragons). Eggs received from breeding or eggs grabbed off the AP can be abandoned immediately.
Fog - Hides your egg from view. This is used when your egg has too many clicks or views and gets softshell, a sickness that can kill your egg if you aren't careful. For more info on softshell,
Click Here. You will see a notification of this at the top of your scroll if any of your eggs are sick.
Hatchling Actions:
Still limited, but expands on the options eggs had:
Kill - Attempting to kill the hatchling will either result in death, a miss where the hatchling will dodge your attack and stay on your scroll, or a miss where the hatchling will run away (auto-abandons). Requires password confirmation to use. Can be used a maximum of 5 times before you must wait a few weeks to be allowed to do so again.
*Note -This action is frowned upon in the community if you do it often and for seemingly no reason, especially if done to a hatchling that is an offspring of dragons owned by someone who likes to track where their dragons' babies go. However, most people who do it are trying to get a hatchling zombie dragon by using the "revive" action afterwards if they successfully kill their hatchling.
Revive - This action appears if you have successfully killed one of your hatchlings. Their sprite will have become a tombstone that you are able to click and view as if it were still alive. This is the only usable action on a dead hatchling. Attempting to revive a dragon can result in either a complete revival, with your dragon being restored as it was to continue growing up, a fail, where the dragon cannot be recovered, and a half success, where your dragon is converted into a zombie. Zombie hatchlings, being undead, will never grow up.
Freeze - Permanently prevents the hatchling from maturing into an adult. The hatchling can be frozen in both its stage 1 (ungendered) and stage 2 (gendered) forms.
Release - This action only appears if you hatchling is frozen. This action releases your frozen hatchling into the cave's wilderness. There is no way to get your dragon back if you choose to do this. Your now former dragon will also lose its name if it had one. Requires password confirmation to do so.
Name/Rename - You may name your dragon once it hatches. Your dragon can only be given a name that is appropriate and is not yet taken. If a name has already been used, a message that reads "You try to write the dragon's name on the scroll, but the ink disappears." will come up in bold to tell you.
Abandon - Releases the hatchling to the AP. Requires password confirmation to do so. Sometimes the hatchling will "follow you back" when you try to abandon it and will stay on your scroll. Hatchlings cannot be abandoned or traded after they are named or frozen.
Fog - Hides your hatchling from view. This is used when your hatchling has too many views and gets sick. Your hatchling can be killed by it if you aren't careful. For more info on hatchling sickness,
Click Here. You will see a notification of this at the top of your scroll if any of your hatchlings are sick.
Adult Actions:
Kill - Attempting to kill the dragon will either result in death or a miss where the dragon will dodge your attack. Requires password confirmation to use. Can be used a maximum of 5 times before you must wait a few weeks to be allowed to do so again.
Revive - This action appears if you have successfully killed one of your dragons. Their sprite will have become a tombstone that you are able to click and view as if it were still alive. This is the only usable action on a dead dragon. Attempting to revive a dragon can result in either a complete revival, with your dragon being restored as it was, a fail, where the dragon cannot be recovered, and a half success, where your dragon is converted into a zombie.
Name/Rename - You may name your dragon. Your dragon can only be given a name that is appropriate and is not yet taken. If a name has already been used, a message that reads "You try to write the dragon's name on the scroll, but the ink disappears." will come up in bold to tell you.
Release - This action releases your dragon into the cave's wilderness. There is no way to get your dragon back if you choose to do this. Your now former dragon will also lose its name. Requires password confirmation to do so.
Breed - Allows you to mate your dragon to another adult dragon on your scroll to produce eggs. Pairs can be compatible and produce eggs, not produce eggs, show disinterest, or will refuse to breed with one another. If a breed refuses, that pair can never breed, and both dragons will be removed from each other's breeding list. Regardless of whether or not the breeding was successful, cool down is 7 days.
Breed Specific Action - Some dragons have special abilities unique to their breed. For more details, please click on the BSA page link in navigation.
